A Successful TOT

Online Journalism bits traditional electronic and print media in peed and coverage. With online journalism at this time of a day at Tumaini University one is able to read news of what is happening around the world. At 10:00 am of 4th August 2009 you are able to read stories in newspapers from England watch Television content and listed to radio news thorough internet before even getting in touch with domestic media.

You visit the likes of Daily Mail, The Sun, Daily Mirror, Daily Star, Daily Record, The People, Daily Express, Daily Telegraph, Times, Independent, Guardian, The Observer, Sunday Mirror etc at that time you have so much to interact with. You read content such as “SIR BOBBY ROBSON: 1933-2009 United in tributes”, “LIVERPOOL will splash out £20million to land Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani - but only when Xabi Alonso finally joins Real Madrid”, “Australia detains terror suspects”, “Bill Clinton on N Korea mission”.

And also headline from BBC TV of sports hot stories such as, “Lineker pays tribute to 'wonderful' Sir Bobby”, “Remembering Robson's long career”, “China subway collapse kills two”, “Skateboard for Jesus at 'ramp camp”, etc.

You also interact BBC Online Radio give you some stories about the same hot topics such as “Ipswich's Mick Mills on Sir Bobby Robson,” “Robson recalls 1978 FA Cup win”.

Challenges of online journalism sweeps out developing countries due to many reasons. So this can be explained with a bad experience of seminar participants who expect to take training on online journalism just to find that no connection in the college computer lab. They hope it will be okay in the following day but no connection again. This is a must take TOT so what next?

Trainers opt to move to the nearest internet café in town. This is a third day of the training and only theories have been taught in the first and second day. The third day begins at 10.00 and everyone is eager but then thing seems not straight forward. Finally the power point projector light on a white colored wall but this is not an assurance of internet connections.

The room is quiet only an AC low breeze fills the room as though there are not people. Gertrude asks, “Are we going to great our blogs today? Before one responds to hear question the Google home page displays on the wall. At least this is an indication of participants having connected to the internet and creating blogs as well.
Thanks to Wina Communications 2007 at least we could use the remaining two days of TOT with part of our objective on hand.
